Grace for Bitterness

Mar 8, 2026    Grant Braaten

Bitterness doesn’t usually start big.

Sometimes it begins with a wound… a betrayal… a moment that felt unfair. Over time that pain can take root in our hearts until we’re carrying something God never intended us to hold.

In Exodus 15, the Israelites had just witnessed one of the greatest miracles in history—the Red Sea parting before them. Yet only three days later, they were grumbling because the water they found was bitter.

Their circumstances had changed… but their hearts hadn’t.

God showed Moses a tree to throw into the water, and the bitter water became sweet. Then God declared: “I am the Lord who heals you.”

That moment wasn’t just about water—it was about hearts.

Bitterness will:

• Blind us to God’s goodness

• Poison our relationships

• Slowly destroy us from the inside out

But the cross gives us a different way. The same grace that forgave us empowers us to forgive others.

This week we’re talking about Grace for Bitterness—how God uproots the things in our hearts that keep us from the life He’s leading us into.

If you’ve been carrying resentment, offense, or unresolved pain… there is freedom. And healing starts when we bring it to the cross.

Watch this weeks message and let God turn the bitter waters in your life into something sweet.
